When you hear artists who have that special something, you’ll know it because they’ll stop you dead in your tracks!
Ultimate Artists Class of 2016 student, Brogan Murphy, is no exception to this!
The first time we heard her sing, it was that ‘goosebumps all over your body, hairs raised on the back of your neck’ kind of moment. Her tone, the feeling in her voice, the emotion…gosh we could just go on.
So we were delighted to catch up with her to find out about what she’s been up to since her time at UA.
‘Brogan, can you tell us a bit about yourself, where you come from and when you first started singing?’
‘I grew up in Hillingdon, London always surrounded by music as my family are very musical. My earliest memories of singing were at a really young age so I’ve never known anything different. My mum jokes that I was singing before I could talk.’
‘How did you come across Ultimate Artists?’
‘I found out about Ultimate Artists through a friend who had been the previous year so I looked into it and decided it was the perfect time for me to venture into something that could push me forward.’
‘What does Ultimate Artists mean to you?’
‘Ultimate Artists for me means, collaborating with vibrant and diverse, like-minded people who all have the same love and vision for music.’
‘Since leaving UA, you’ve been pretty busy! You have your 2nd single out ‘You,’ and I have to say that we’re loving it! What was the inspiration behind it?’
‘Thank you so much! I’m so happy you’re loving it, the response to it has been overwhelming.
The inspiration for ‘You’ came from a difficult part of my life that I felt most people can relate to. Everybody’s been through heartbreak and in order to move on from it, I felt I needed to write about it. I wasn’t so sure on releasing it at first as it’s so personal but I decided if it could help one person feel not on their own in a situation like that, then it needed to be done.’
‘The video for the single is deeply moving and so powerful, how did the concept come about?’
‘The song’s message is so important to me that I didn’t want to take away from it at all with a big production so we set up a camera at the studio on a white screen and just pressed record. The video was done in one shot, one take and is the rawest version of myself I could possibly put out.’
‘So the single is out, can you tell us what else you have planned for 2018, and what we can look forward to?’
‘I’m currently working on my debut album which should be out later this year, which I’m so excited for! It will be a massive milestone for me! And off the back of that I’m looking to do some support tours and festivals. Bring on 2018!’

‘And finally, what would you say to anyone considering coming to the Ultimate Artists Development Programme but isn’t quite sure?’
‘Honestly, if you’re looking for somewhere to explore your creativity and at the same time, connect with some amazing people on the way, just go! It’s so much fun, and you’ll feel like you’re part of a family as soon as you turn up! Everybody is so welcoming and the energy is totally inspiring!’
