Beginning his now thriving vocal coaching career at the tender age of eighteen, Joshua Alamu was blessed with the opportunity to be mentored by the renowned music industry vocal coaching duo David and Carrie Grant. After many years of industry, working with highly acclaimed artists, he then moved on to further his studies in Vocal Technique & Vocology. It was here that Joshua discovered his calling for developing raw talent, – “seeing singers transform before his very eyes”, and an overwhelming sense of satisfaction of being able to make a difference.
Sheena Ladwa worked on the Ultimate Artists team for 2 years before leaving a Senior Media Consultant position at global agency ‘Publicis’ in 2014 to work on Ultimate Artists full time, and join the team of directors. When presented with the opportunity to fulfil her vision of making a difference to, and empowering people through music, it felt like the right time to make the move to UA on a permanent basis.
With a career spanning 10 years within the media industry, a wealth of experience planning and executing media strategies for globally recognised brands, Sheena possesses a great understanding and aptitude for increasing brand awareness and revenue. Priding herself on her ability to build long lasting and effective relationships, Sheena has been able to bring key partners on board and also manage and give direction to the UA team. Sheena not only manages the 9 day Ultimate Artists event from inception to conception but she has brought structure and a vision to UA that has seen the number of students double in the space of a year and will triple in 2017.
As a recording artist, Sheena has a thorough understanding of the music industry. When combined with her commercial knowledge and expertise, Sheena is an essential asset to Ultimate Artists.
Director of Education
Eva is one of the Directors of UA, co-coordinating the UA programme with Sheena and Joshua. She is in charge of the Song Production part of UA, guiding students in the exciting art of song-writing and all aspects of music creation. Also this year, for the first time, running a dedicated music production wing at UA.
She currently runs her HMVS.co.uk recording studio in the old Hampstead Town Hall where she works with upcoming artists making their first albums, as well as professionals developing new material. Some of her clients being Dr Das from ADF, musicians from Massive Attack, Wilson Miles and even voice talents like Lukas Podolski – the former Arsenal footballer! Being a vocal specialist she in an expert in getting a good vocal sound and performance, even from new or nervous vocalists.
She is one of a select panel of music examiners working for the contemporary music exam board Rockschool, here she travels extensively at home and abroad conducting exams and workshops in all aspects of music examination.
She previously worked in live sound and recording which took her around the UK e.g. Big Chill, ATP, Green Man and Glastonbury Festivals feat. bands like Iggy Pop, Bryan Ferry, and Dub Colossus.
In her earlier days she was lead and backing singer in several bands in Copenhagen while she studied music, anatomy and vocal technique with Jo Estill, jazz singers Mark Murphy and Carmen Lundy. Her studies leading her to moving to London to train as an Alexander technique teacher with the late great Walter Carrington, recognising that identifying and eliminating harmful vocal patterns and unconscious tensions is key to finding and developing your own true voice.
She has a Music Technology degree from University of Westminster and holds a Masters in Studio Composition from Goldsmiths.
